🦴 Tales from Scotland: Ruckus at Loch Morlich

Golden Retriever + Highland Lake = Pure Joy
He Came. He Splashed. He Conquered.
Turns out, Ruckus wasn’t just born to pose in ruins. He was built for splashing, charging, and retrieving in the kind of place most dogs (and photographers) only dream about.
Welcome to Loch Morlich—a freshwater lake tucked beneath the Cairngorm Mountains, surrounded by ancient pines, soft sandy shores, and one seriously enthusiastic golden retriever. And yes, even in May, we could still see snow dusting the distant peaks. Ruckus didn’t care. He was in his element.
No Bumper Left Behind
Once that floating bumper hit the water, it was game on. Ruckus leapt, launched, paddled, and powered through every splash zone like it was his full-time job. His ears flopped, his eyes locked in, and his whole body said, “I was made for this.” And honestly? He was.
This wasn’t just action shots. It was a dog living his best life on a lake that might as well have been built for goldens.
A Bit About Loch Morlich
Loch Morlich sits within Glenmore Forest Park in the Scottish Highlands, near the ski town of Aviemore. Known for its scenic walking trails and a beach that’s surprisingly sandy for this part of the world, it’s also one of the few places in the UK where you can kayak with snow-capped mountains in the background. It’s postcard-perfect—even when there’s a wet golden charging through the frame.
A Note of Gratitude
Huge thanks to Ewan Cheyne of Mutley Snaps for once again sharing his brilliant young model, Ruckus. Ewan served as one of the lead instructors at the 2025 Woofventures Retreat, alongside the always-inspiring Kristin Murray of Kristin Murray Photography (Virginia), and internationally renowned German pet photographer Elke Vogelsang. Each brought a unique vision and voice to the retreat, making it an unforgettable week of creativity, connection, and a whole lot of dogs.

Because every dog deserves their own legend.
And we’re here to tell it—one splash, one sprint, one floating toy at a time.
