Let’s set the scene: ancient stone walls, an evening sky teetering between broody and breathtaking, and two utterly fabulous Mini Aussies—posing like pros, because they are.
Meet Newt and Slug, the ridiculously photogenic Highland duo who brought bounce, brains, and biscuit-fueled brilliance to Ruthven Barracks. If you’re not already following their adventures on Instagram (@puppynewt), it’s time. Newt, the black-and-white blur with a permanent sparkle in her eye, is an agility star through and through. And Slug? This blue merle beauty may be the newest addition, but she’s already stealing hearts with every head tilt.
Their human, Jennifer K., brought them out for a golden hour stroll on a blustery May evening—cool, crisp, and very un-Florida (which is exactly how we like our Scottish sessions). The wind danced through the ruins, Newt showed off her signature flair, and Slug soaked up the history like she’d been here for centuries.
Perched above the Highland village of Kingussie, Ruthven Barracks has been standing watch since the 1700s. Built by government forces after the Jacobite rising, it was meant to keep rebellion in check—though spoiler alert: that didn’t go exactly to plan. These days, it's far more famous for its cinematic views, crumbling stone charm, and the occasional pair of Aussie girls ruling the courtyard with fluff, focus, and fabulous form.
Let’s be honest… that evening, it was all theirs.
From windswept wonders to studio stunners, we create custom portraits that are all heart, fluff, and unforgettable flair.
