The Beauty of The Flower Fields

Where the Flowers Take Over

Acres of blooms, beautiful Florida light and a portrait location that exists for only a fleeting moment each year.

A Landscape That Never Looks Quite the Same

There is something wonderfully unpredictable about photographing at a working flower farm.

The fields change from season to season and sometimes from week to week. One visit may bring soft pastels and delicate texture. Another might give us saturated color, dramatic skies and flowers stretching toward the horizon.

We photograph at Parker Flower Farms, where the blooms, weather and Florida light decide what the landscape will become.

That means we never arrive expecting to recreate a photograph we made before. We arrive ready to see what the fields are giving us that day.

Designed by Nature

The Flower Fields appear only twice a year, during a brief four- to six-week window in spring and again in fall.

Even within those few weeks, the landscape is constantly changing. Bloom cycles, weather, access and light all have to come together at the same time.

That fleeting quality is part of what makes this location so special.

We don't create the bloom. We wait for it.

And when the fields are ready, we work with what nature has created rather than trying to make it something else.

Dogs Among the Flowers

One of the things we love most about Parker Flower Farms is how naturally dogs can be photographed within the landscape while still protecting both the dogs and the fields.

The farm is exceptionally pet friendly, and its pathways allow us to work from designated areas without disturbing the blooms. Every dog remains safely on leash while we photograph, and those leashes are discreetly removed later when we create the finished portrait.

By changing our camera position and photographing through and around the flowers, we can create the feeling that a dog is completely surrounded by blooms while never asking them to be anywhere they shouldn't be.

The result feels effortless. Behind it is a great deal of careful positioning, patience and respect for the place we're photographing.

Chasing the Light

We photograph the flower fields at the edges of the day, when Florida light becomes softer, warmer and far more interesting.

At sunrise, the farm can feel almost completely still. The light is delicate, the air is cooler and there are mornings when it feels as though we have the fields entirely to ourselves.

Sunset brings something different: warmth, deeper color and the possibility of glowing skies behind the flowers.

Neither is better. They simply tell different stories.

Worth the Journey

Dogs and their people travel from across Florida for the opportunity to photograph here, and we understand why.

This isn't a location we can recreate in the studio or schedule whenever we choose. It belongs to a particular place, a particular season and a particular moment.

For families traveling to Northeast Florida, Flower Fields can also become part of a longer visit, paired with time in historic St. Augustine or another portrait experience while they're here.

But the fields themselves are reason enough to make the trip.
