Sometimes We Need a Few Good Dogs.
Teaching. Testing. Special projects. And occasionally an idea we simply have to try.
Not every photograph we create is for a client session. Sometimes we’re preparing for a class, experimenting with a new set or lighting idea, creating images for a special project or looking for a particular dog to help us bring an idea to life.
That’s where our dog models come in.
Most of our model opportunities are in Northeast Florida and Naples, although we occasionally have opportunities elsewhere in Florida and when we’re traveling to teach.
A Little About Model Sessions.
Sometimes we’re looking for something very specific. Sometimes we just know it when we see it.
We’re always looking for dogs with great expressions, interesting personalities, beautiful coats, unusual breeds, special skills or simply something about them that catches our eye. Our model needs change depending on what we’re working on, so there isn’t one particular kind of dog we’re looking for.
Model sessions are a trade for photographs rather than complimentary portrait sessions. We’ll choose the concept, location, set or lighting based on what we’re creating, and in return for your time and your dog’s participation, you’ll receive a selection of fully finished digital photographs from the session.
Most of our model sessions take place in Northeast Florida and Naples, and dogs who live in those areas — or will be visiting — are the easiest for us to work with. We also travel throughout Florida and around the country to teach, and occasionally need models while we’re on the road.
You’re welcome to add your dog to our model database no matter where you live. If we have a project or teaching opportunity coming up near you and your dog is a good fit for what we need, we’ll be in touch.
What Kind of Dogs Are We Looking For?
All kinds, actually.
Sometimes we need a beautifully groomed show dog. Sometimes we’re looking for a rare or unusual breed, a dog with special training or skills, a senior with a wonderful face, or a puppy who hasn’t quite figured out where all of their feet go yet.
And sometimes it has nothing to do with breed or training. It might be incredible ears, an expressive face, an unusual coat, a great head tilt or simply a dog with so much personality that we immediately start thinking about how we’d photograph them.
Your dog does not need to be perfectly trained. What matters most is that they’re comfortable with people, can safely participate in the kind of project we’re planning and have that little something that makes us want to pick up a camera.
