National Rescue Dog Day | May 20, 2025
You love dogs. The belly flops, the nose boops, the head tilts. But maybe what you love most is their ability to love you back — no matter what.
And there are thousands of dogs out there right now, just waiting to give that kind of love to someone like you.
At The PAWtographers, we’ve met many of them. From playful Papillons to shy seniors who just need a warm lap, rescue dogs have shown us time and again that second chances are powerful.
We know because one of them changed our lives.
Her name is Dulce — a scruffy terrier-poodle mix with soulful eyes and a crooked smile. She came to us from the Jacksonville Humane Society at a time when our hearts were broken. Dulce didn’t just join our family — she helped heal it.
Today, You Get to Be the Hero
National Rescue Dog Day isn’t just a celebration — it’s a call to action. If you’ve ever thought about helping dogs in need, this is your moment.
Here’s how you can change a dog’s story:
- Adopt a rescue dog and give them the forever they deserve.
- Foster to offer a safe place for a dog in transition.
- Donate to support medical care, food, and transport.
- Volunteer your time or talents at a local rescue.
- Share adoptable dogs or rescue missions on social media — your post could lead to a perfect match.
Every little action moves a dog one step closer to home.
💕 A Few of the Incredible Rescues We've Worked With
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with these amazing organizations—through photo sessions, fundraising events, and collaborative projects—all with one shared mission: to help more dogs find the loving homes they deserve.
- Jacksonville Humane Society
- Papillon Pals Rescue
- Coastal Pug Rescue
- Cavalier Rescue of Florida
- Havanese Rescue Inc.
- Humane Society Naples
- Misplaced Mutts
With your help, we’ve raised over $10,000 just last year to support rescue efforts — and along the way, we've photographed hundreds of dogs through our Pawtraits for Charity division, including adoptable dogs still waiting for a home.
