There are moments when a dog gives you the look — that unmistakable blend of curiosity, confidence, and just a hint of attitude — and you know instantly that you’ve captured something special.
That’s exactly what happened last year while I was teaching a live dog photography class in West Palm Beach. It wasn’t a quiet studio session or a carefully planned setup. We were surrounded by people, chatter, lights, and movement. I had just a few precious minutes with this magnificent Standard Poodle, a dog I had never met before.
In that fleeting window, he tilted his head ever so slightly — intrigued, but clearly unimpressed. The image that emerged from that moment became one of my favorites, a reminder that connection and instinct matter far more than perfect conditions.
I’m thrilled to share that “Intrigued but Not Impressed” received an Honorable Mention in the 2025 Dog Photography Awards, based in France.
This annual international competition celebrates the artistry and diversity of dog photography, showcasing some of the finest canine portraits from around the world. The 2025 contest drew 2,036 entries from 48 countries, all evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges from France, Spain, Poland, Montenegro, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Finland.
To have my work recognized among such extraordinary talent is both humbling and deeply rewarding. Even more exciting — this image will be featured in the Dog Photography Awards 2025 Annual Book, alongside the Dog Photographer of the Year and other honorees from across the globe.
This image represents everything I love about photographing dogs — their individuality, humor, and intelligence. It’s proof that artistry doesn’t require perfection. Sometimes, the magic happens in the middle of organized chaos, when a dog’s expression says more than any words could.
This honor joins an incredible season of achievements for our studio. Each recognition is a testament to the artistry, patience, and heart that go into every portrait — whether created in our private studio, along the Florida coast, or in teaching environments like West Palm Beach.
For our clients, it’s a reminder that their dog’s story deserves this same level of care and craftsmanship — that even a fleeting look or a playful moment can become timeless art.
For fellow photographers and students, it’s proof that creativity doesn’t depend on control. My workshops focus on embracing imperfection, finding light in chaos, and learning to see what others might miss — because that’s where the magic lives.
To the incredible Standard Poodle who gave me that unforgettable look — thank you for reminding me that art doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
To everyone who supports and celebrates our journey, I’m beyond grateful.
Here’s to another year of dogs, light, laughter, and a little bit of attitude.
