Scenic Spots to Visit with Your Pup

Florida, with its sunny weather and diverse landscapes, is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and their four-legged friends. (Well, other than the extreme heat and humidity in the middle of summer -- but yo get what we're saying. It's great 9 months out of the year!)

So, whether you’re a resident or visiting with your pup, there are countless dog-friendly parks, trails, and scenic spots to explore. Here are just a few of the destinations in the Sunshine State where you and your dog can enjoy nature together.

1. Fort De Soto Park – St. Petersburg

Fort De Soto Park is a must-visit for any dog owner. This beautiful park offers a dedicated dog beach where your pup can splash in the waves and run free on the sand. The park welcomes leashed dogs on its trails, including the scenic Coastal Hammock Trail, which winds through lush subtropical vegetation. There’s also a freshwater lagoon where you and your dog can relax and enjoy the views. After your hike, head to the nearby dog-friendly Las Olas Boulevard for some pet-friendly dining options.

3. Myakka River State Park – Sarasota

For a taste of Florida’s wild side, visit Myakka River State Park in Sarasota. This expansive park offers a variety of trails where leashed dogs are welcome. The Canopy Walkway and Tower Trail provides an elevated view of the park’s unique landscape, including wetlands and prairies. 4. A.L. Anderson Park – Tarpon Springs

A.L. Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs is a hidden gem that offers a serene environment for dog owners. 5. Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens – Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens is a fantastic destination for nature lovers and their dogs. This 120-acre arboretum features several miles of trails that wind through diverse ecosystems, including wetlands, sandhills, and oak hammocks.
