When Voyage Jacksonville invited Joan to be part of its Rising Stars series, the conversation became about much more than photography.

The interview traces a career that began with writing and editorial photography and eventually became The PAWtographers—along with the lessons learned building a portrait business, a lifetime spent working with dogs, professional photographic achievements, and the animal-welfare work that has become such an important part of what we do.

The Part That Matters Most

Awards, degrees and recognition are wonderful milestones. But the heart of what Randy and I have built together has always been much simpler: creating meaningful artwork of dogs and the people who love them.
