For a few beautiful weeks this fall, the flowers will be blooming, the light will be golden, and we’ll be back in the fields creating portraits of dogs and the people who love them.
There is something magical about photographing a dog in a field of flowers.
Maybe it’s the color. Maybe it’s the way the flowers soften everything around them. Or maybe it’s simply watching a dog wander through the rows, nose working overtime, while the early morning or evening light settles over the field.
Whatever it is, our Flower Field Signature Sessions have become one of our favorite ways to photograph dogs outdoors.
And this fall, we’re going back.
Our 2026 Flower Field Signature Sessions will take place Oct. 20 through Nov. 22 at the beautiful flower fields in Elkton, Florida, just outside St. Augustine.
Sessions are available at sunrise and sunset, when the light is at its most beautiful and the fields seem to glow.
The flowers themselves change throughout the season, which is part of what makes these sessions so special. Every visit to the field is a little different.
And yes, people are absolutely welcome.
In fact, some of our favorite portraits happen when the people who belong to the dogs step into the frame, too.
Both are beautiful, but they create slightly different experiences.
Sunrise sessions are wonderfully peaceful. The air is cooler, the fields are quiet and the light begins soft and delicate before warming as the sun rises. They can be especially nice for dogs who are more comfortable when there are fewer distractions.
Sunset sessions bring that gorgeous late-afternoon warmth we love. As the sun drops lower, the fields take on a rich golden glow that can be spectacular with the flowers.
There really isn’t a wrong choice.
We’ll help you decide which is best for your dog, your family and the kind of portraits you’d love to create.
The flowers are beautiful, but they’re really only the setting. The dog is the story.
This may be the most important thing we can tell you.
Your dog does not need to sit perfectly.
Your dog does not need to stay on command.
And your dog definitely does not need to be trusted off leash.
We have spent decades working with dogs, and we design our sessions around them. Their personalities, comfort levels and quirks are all part of the experience.
Dogs remain safely leashed during our outdoor sessions. When appropriate, those leashes are removed during the artwork process.
So if you’re looking at one of our flower field portraits and wondering, How in the world did they get that dog to stay there?
There’s probably a leash you can’t see.
The flowers are beautiful, but they’re really only the setting.
The dog is the story.
That might mean the ridiculous expression you know by heart. The ears that never quite cooperate. The way your dog looks at you when nobody else is watching. Or the quiet portrait that somehow captures exactly who they are.
Our goal isn’t simply to photograph your dog in flowers.
It’s to create artwork that happens to have a pretty spectacular backdrop.
We welcome clients from throughout Florida, and the Flower Field Sessions are a wonderful excuse for a few days away with your dog.
For our clients traveling to us, we’ll send you our own guide to enjoying dog-friendly St. Augustine, with some of our favorite places to stay, eat, explore and spend time with your pup.
Have your portrait session in the flower fields, then spend a little time enjoying one of Florida’s most beautiful historic cities.
Not a bad weekend.
For a few beautiful weeks, the fields are ours to explore.
Flower Field Sessions are available Oct. 20 through Nov. 22 at sunrise and sunset. Because session dates are coordinated with the flower farm, we’ll begin with a complimentary Creative Consultation to choose your preferred date and confirm availability.
